Scientific vulgarisation for Cosmetics

Unilever is one of our clients and the largest producer of soap in the world. They specialize in wide range of consumer products varying from vitamins and mineral supplements to personal care and beauty products. We collaborated with them to create an animation video to convey the benefits of their personal skincare product – a body moisturizer – on the skin’s lipid barrier in a playful and creative manner using 3D animation and character creation.

We imagined a playful and colorful 3D cartoon video animation to simplify and visually heighten the functionality and action of the active ingredients present in their body moisturizer. The 3D cartoon video animation aimed to explain in a way that would be accessible to everyone how their new formula produced skin-identical technology that the skin’s outermost layer – the strateum corneum – uses to create its own fatty acids and ceramides, which helps improving skin nourishment.

Using scientific 3D video animation allowed us to generate a simplified yet creative representation of complex elements such as the strateum corneum, lipid matrix and its components (fatty acids, ceramides, cholesterol), etc., as well as their action on the skin.

Whether it is a short and dynamic teaser video or a long and detailed informative corporate movie, our creative team based in Paris always strives to deliver quality content.

We are part of a strong medical and scientific community in Europe and work closely with leading dermatologists, estheticians, and cosmetologists with a strong knowledge of the industry and extensive experience in the field to obtain firsthand counseling about dermatology.

In order to be as accurate as possible and create a truly creative and playful video for our client Unilever, we sought for advice from dermatology consultants and specialists and discussed about the benefits and action of the active ingredients of their product.

To visually translate the concept, our creative team worked closely with highly experienced 3D animators and artistic directors to create a 3D cartoon video animation of Unilever’s medical grade skincare product and highlight its action on the skin’s lipid barrier.

At each step of the production process, which goes as follows:

  • Storyboard (structure of the video)
  • Moodboard (styles, colors and fonts of the video)
  • Styleboard (recreational design of the video)
  • 3D modulation, Texturing, Lighting, 3D animation with VFX
  • Customized music composition…

… We ensured that we met the objectives of our client and conveyed their needs and intent by working in full collaboration with them.

Through an active exchange with our scientific & medical community, we endeavored to create an impactful, creative, playful and visually pleasing 3D cartoon video animation that would clearly explain the benefits of Unilever’s body moisturizer.
