MOA of an Active Cosmetic Ingredient

Unilever is one of our clients and the largest producer of soap in the world. They specialize in wide range of consumer products varying from vitamins and mineral supplements to personal care and beauty products. We collaborated with them to create a scientific 3D video animation to convey the benefits of their personal skincare product Dove body wash on the skin’s lipid barrier.

The scientific 3D video animation was mainly created for internal communication purposes. The objective was to help Unilever explain the Mode Of Action (MOA) of Dove body wash’s new formula to their clients.

We designed a scientific 3D video animation to explain and visually heighten the functionality and action of the active ingredients present in Dove Body wash. The scientific 3D video animation aimed to explain clearly and methodically how their new formula generates skin-identical technology such as stearic & palmitic acids. They lead to the formation of ceramides and longer fatty acids that are in turn deposited into the lipid matrix of the strateum corneum and finally nourish the skin.

Using scientific 3D video animation allowed us to generate a clear and engaging representation of complex elements such as the strateum corneum, corneocytes, lipid matrix and its components (fatty acids, ceramides, cholesterol), stearic & palmitic acids, etc., as well as their action on the skin.

In order to be as accurate as possible and create a truly meaningful video for our client Unilever, we sought for advice from dermatology consultants and specialists and discussed about the benefits and action of the active ingredients of their product.

To visually translate the concept, our creative team worked closely with highly experienced 3D animators and artistic directors to create a 3D scientific video animation of Unilever’s medical grade skincare product and highlight its action on the skin’s lipid barrier.

At each step of the production process, which goes as follows:

  • Styleboard (recreational design of the video)

Through an active exchange with our scientific & medical community, we endeavored to create an informative, meaningful and visually pleasing scientific 3D video animation that would clearly explain the effects of Dove body wash’s new formula and its role in nourishing the skin.
